politics in mexico

I was planning on using this blog to give a more up to date picture of my three weeks in Mexico, centered in Mexico City. Never got around to it. But, I thought I would post a number of pictures of the people's protests against the last presidential election. Andrés Manuel López Obrador was the candidate of the left-wing PRD and lost the election by the tiniest of margins. And had demanded a complete vote by vote recount. To back up this demand, a peoples encampment has formed in the middle of Mexico City, stretching for blocks and blocks. While a 'partial" recount will take place, the protests (encampment, blockades and rallies) will continue.
